Awayt ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Awayt app ("App") and website awayt.fun.

Information We Collect

Awayt is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data to provide the service:

• Anonymous user ID: When you first open the app, an anonymous identifier is generated using Supabase Auth. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any personal information.
• Countdown data: Titles, dates, emoji, notes, and themes you enter when creating countdowns. This data is stored on our servers to enable sharing functionality.
• Poll data: Questions, options, and anonymous votes you record on shared countdowns.
• Usage data: We track whether a countdown was created via a shared link (for analytics purposes). No personal browsing data is collected.
• Coarse Location (Optional Analytics): For internal analytics only, we may collect country-level location data based on your IP address. IP addresses are hashed (SHA256) before storage and deleted after 90 days. This data is anonymous and never linked to your identity, Apple ID, or account. Used solely to understand global usage patterns.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Your precise location or GPS data
• Your contacts or address book
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
• Any data from third-party services for advertising or tracking purposes
• User-uploaded photos (MVP version — coming soon)

How We Use Your Information

• To show your countdowns and enable real-time sharing with others.
• To moderate content and ensure compliance with our safety guidelines via client-side keyword filters.
• To process in-app purchases via Apple's StoreKit (we do not store payment information).
• To send push notifications you have explicitly enabled (countdown reminders).
• To improve the app through anonymous, aggregated analytics.

Content Moderation

To ensure a safe experience for all users:

• Text content (titles, notes) is filtered via client-side keyword lists before submission — inappropriate content is blocked locally on your device.
• Users can report any countdown via the in-app "Report" button for manual review.
• MVP version does not support user-uploaded photos; only pre-approved gradients and preset images are available.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Countdown data you share via links is accessible to anyone with the link — this is intentional and required for the sharing feature to work.

No Tracking Policy

Awayt does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies:

• We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or any tracking technology.
• We do not share data with third-party ad networks or data brokers.
• We do not build profiles for targeted advertising.
• Coarse location data is used solely for internal analytics to understand global usage patterns — never for advertising or tracking.

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase (supabase.com) — database and file storage, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt)
• Apple App Store — for in-app purchase processing
• ip-api.com — for coarse location lookup (country code only, IP hashed, deleted after 90 days)

Countdown data is stored until you delete it. When you delete a countdown, all associated data including poll results is permanently removed from public view. If you uninstall the app, your anonymous ID is no longer linked to new activity.

Retention for Legal Compliance

Please note that as a hosting provider, we may be required by law to retain certain technical logs (such as hashed IP addresses and timestamps) for a period of up to 2 years to assist judicial authorities if legally requested. This background information is kept separate from your active content and is only accessible under legal warrants.

Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we send reminders about your countdowns (24 hours before, 1 hour before, and at the moment of the countdown). You can disable notifications at any time in your iOS Settings.

Children's Privacy

Awayt is rated 9+ due to user-generated text content (countdown titles and notes). The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. All content is moderated via:

• Client-side keyword filters that block inappropriate text before submission
• In-app "Report" button for community moderation
• Character limits (30/60 free, 50/90 premium) that prevent abuse

Your Rights

You can:

• Delete any countdown and its associated data directly from the app
• Disable push notifications in iOS Settings
• Request deletion of all data associated with your anonymous ID by contacting us at hi@awayt.fun

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
